Fraudulent certificates are being issued in the Masakhane name

Every genuine Masakhane certificate carries a QR code that opens a matching record on our own system. If it has no QR code, it did not come from us.

What is happening

Masakhane Group is accredited by TETA (Accreditation No. TETA13-341, valid 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028) and registered with the QCTO as a skills development provider. Our training also carries recognition from the Department of Employment and Labour and the Department of Transport.

Over a number of years our name, logo and accreditation have been misused by people with no link to us, who issue certificates that look like ours. We have reported these cases to the relevant authorities. These certificates harm the learners who hold them, the employers who rely on them and the safety of the people on your sites.

How to check a certificate

STEP 1
Find the QR code

Every genuine Masakhane certificate carries a QR code.

STEP 2
Scan it

Use your phone camera. It opens a verification page on www.masakhanegroup.co.za.

STEP 3
Compare the details

The page shows the holder, company, course, issue date and expiry date. They must match the certificate in front of you.

Prefer to type the number?

Enter the certificate number printed on the certificate to open its record.

What this means

A certificate that carries our name or logo but has no QR code, or whose QR code does not open a matching record, did not come from us and must be treated as fraudulent.

Certificates we issued before the QR code was introduced can still be confirmed. Send us the learner’s full name, ID number and certificate number and we will check our records.

What we ask of our clients and partners

  • Check the QR code on every Masakhane certificate before you accept it, whether for hiring, site access or your training records.
  • Do not accept a Masakhane certificate with no QR code, or with a record that does not match, until you have confirmed it with us.
  • Share this notice with your management, human resources, safety and training teams.

Report a suspected fraudulent certificate

Please attach a clear photo or scan of the certificate. We take every report seriously. We will keep reporting every case we find and will act against anyone who issues certificates in our name without authority.
